The stages of a claim

What to expect?

A disaster is never pleasant. We know that. That's why we want to walk you through it step by step, so you know how we can fix the problem. 

No matter the nature of the loss, you should always think about your safety and the safety of your loved ones before doing anything.

The six steps of our intervention

  1. First and foremost, make sure you and your loved ones are safe. Then do whatever is necessary to keep the situation from getting worse.
  2. Call GUS. Our role is to put you in touch with your insurer so that you can send them the necessary information. Make sure you have your insurance policy number on hand.
  3. Once your claim is entrusted to us, one of our many specialists will contact you to let you know when they will arrive. From then on, you will be able to explain to the person in detail what happened in order to allow the other experts, who will arrive some time later, to intervene as effectively as possible. They will take the time to fully explain all of the necessary steps that will allow you to regain your peace of mind.
  4. The same day or the day after the emergency, a project manager will contact the claims adjuster assigned to your claim to give him a report of the situation and send him the quote for the drying out and decontamination work, demolition or reconstruction, if necessary.
  5. In the following days, a technician will return to your home to perform humidity tests in the affected rooms. He will give you of the result and replace the equipment (fans, dehumidifiers), if necessary.
  6. A few days after the emergency, when the affected room is dry, a technician will collect the equipment.

If your loss requires reconstruction, two more steps are required

  1. Once we have received authorization from your insurer for the reconstruction work, a project manager will contact you to set the start date and schedule.
  2. The work begins! Try not to be too nervous about your new home.
